Non-Destructive Testing: An IYKYK Industry Service
Inspecting pipes, tools and equipment for various defects is just some of what it means to be as an inspector. These inspectors give clients the confidence that what they are using to carry out their jobs is verified and safe for work. Non-Destructive Testing is a selection of inspection methods that allow inspectors evaluate and collect data about a material, system, or component without permanently altering it. Some of these methods include visual, magnetic particle, dye penetrant and ultrasonic inspections. Inspectors are certified through bodies such as the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) or through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
For any inspection to begin, pipes, tools and equipment are cleaned and buffed using straight and angled grinders with a wire brush attached, rags to remove grease or blasted with sand under a high air pressure system for the removal of rusted surfaces. The level of corrosion determines the type of cleaning that will be recommended before inspection. Once these activities are completed and the type of inspection to be carried out is had, items are now ready for inspections to be carried out.
